I felt like a fish out of water; some of my existing skills were applicable, Yay!…and some that I thought might be it turns out, were epically not.
These days I am a direct hire IT recruiter for one of the largest staffing firms in the world.
And while most of the People I place in new roles aren't changing industries, it is none the less a significant change. I meet people at a time when they are in a transition in their work life, mostly for the better, more money, better work/life balance, change of heart, change of direction, change of scenery… Any of those scenarios really.
Whatever your “why” is… I strive to be someone who will give a straight answer, help if I can, and hopefully make the transition easier. I can’t help everyone find the perfect position, but I can give guidance, be a sounding board and utilize my access to the resources, relationships and people available to me.
Most of the time I can help, and if I can’t directly, I can at least point you in the right direction. I will post on IT employment trends, advice, tips, tricks and gotcha’s of the IT employment life cycle.
I run a full IT recruiting perm desk, which means, I recruit, I rewrite resumes, I market to clients, I market to candidates, I interview, I coach, I make phone calls, recruiting calls, sales calls, referral calls, ad calls, follow up calls and I do all of this everyday.
