Job Description
Project Manager for New Jersey
Major Accountabilities:
- Manage Infrastructure programs/projects through all lifecycle phases while adhering to budget, time, and quality standards
- Ensure all Infrastructure services are delivered in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreements and agreed Project Plans.
- Identify project risks and obtain solutions/minimize impact (such as allocation of resources or changing scope)
- Effectively manage projects within a complex technological environment with limited resources
- Engage in strategic planning
- Create/maintain master project plan
- Develop/maintain all required project documentation
- Plan and organize the project, allocate internal and/or external resources project tasks
- Lead and manage project teams
- Maintain control over the project's status and budget
- Ensure adherence to IT InControl standards (including GxP and SOX requirements)
- Align projects with the GIS PMO’s strategic objectives and tools
- Follow project management methodology standards and tools (ICE, Clarity)
- Maintain frequent contact with the customer and provide regular progress reports
- Communicate with all project stakeholders, manage conflict
- Establish project management governance model for the oversight of projects
- Define and provide measurements and metrics / KPIs
- Manage relationships and influence culture of non-Novartis employees of ‘to be’ or newly acquired companies
- Share and collaborate within GIS PMO to continue development of best practices
Key Performance Indicators / Measures Of Success
- Achieve agreed targets in terms of quality, time, scope and cost, while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Adhere to defined management and delivery processes for IT projects and other policies relevant to the project scope (e.g. HW/SW standards, CSV, Information Protection)
- Lead the assigned project personnel to jointly achieve high customer satisfaction
- Responsible to identify continuous improvement opportunities in cost reduction and performance of all existing IT services
- Establishes and chairs the appropriate project meetings to ensure control of the project(s)
Education / Experience
“MUST HAVE”
- Managed successfully at least 3 projects as project lead with a volume of >500k each in the last 6 years.
- Fluent in English (mandatory), German (a “plus”)
- Knowledge of IT Project methodologies and best practices
- Experience with IT infrastructure disciplines (WAN, Data Centers, Client Services, Process Management) preferred
- Experience with diversified and complex projects, large scale mergers / acquisitions
- Capability to assemble & lead global virtual teams
- Excellent oral and written communication, organizational and presentation skills
- Resolves and/or escalates issues quickly
- Demonstrated ability to recognize, predict and manage project risk
- Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Clarity (a “plus”)
DESIRED:
- PMP certification or equivalent
- Skilled in organizational change and managing relationships.
- Able to think and act strategically and tactically from a broad business perspective
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical trends, politics, and initiatives
- Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members in an effort to perform continuous improvements.
- Understanding and knowledge of general IT infrastructure technology, systems and management processes
- Degree in computer science or similar
