Job Description


Reporting to the Senior Corporate Counsel the Compliance Manager is accountable for the development, implementation and reporting and management of Novo Nordisk Canada Inc. Business Ethics Compliance Program (“Compliance Program”) in Canada.


  • Reports business ethics issues
  • Defines compliance standards via policies and procedures, trains, audits and monitors, facilitates internal reporting, handles compliance related investigations
  • Develops and maintains policies for disciplinary action for non-compliance, in coordination with other relevant functions.
  • Organizes local compliance self-assessments, audits and monitoring;
  • Organizes, leads and supports Business Ethics audits for NNCI
  • Member of various relevant Committees to assist in ensuring compliance with Business Ethics policies
  • Participates on other business teams as assigned
  • Build trusting and effective working relationships by frequent interactions with stakeholders, participation in teams, collaboration internally to institute best practices
  • Commitment and Clarity about ethical conduct by creating, maintaining a compliance and ethics strategic plan and compliance program


  • University degree preferably in Law
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior Pharma compliance experience
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Sales and Marketing experience in a pharmaceutical company an asset
  • Demonstrated and applied knowledge of business ethics in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry and all related laws
  • In depth knowledge of RX&D code, Health Canada guidance documents, Regulatory environment
  • Strong financial background and understanding of accounting systems
  • Team player with effective time management skills
  • Ability to travel nationally – 20% to 30%
