OBJECTIVE

The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works (DPW) is seeking a Programmer Consultant to assist the Information Technology Division – Systems & Applications (ITDSA) staff in analyzing, designing, developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining web applications.

BACKGROUND

DPW currently has several Intranet and Internet production servers, running ColdFusion and Microsoft .NET, that host web content systems and applications. The Intranet site averages 3,000 users and the Internet site attracts about 35,000 visitors monthly. The majority of the content on these servers is database driven primarily Oracle and SQL Server, with a few Microsoft Access databases. DPW currently uses over 300 Internet and Intranet applications to support its daily operations and is developing 20 new ones. ITDSA develops and maintains all of these web

applications, as well as various mainframe systems and commercial off-the-shelf software.

REQUIREMENTS

 1)  A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering with emphasis on application development.

2)  2 years experience programming and developing at least three (3) web applications projects using Microsoft.NET (C#),   The application development projects must have automated business rules, provided flexibility, or reusability and preferably must have been in production.

3)  2 years experience designing and normalizing Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases using Toad, SQL Server Management Studio and other tools.  The database projects must have involved writing nested, hierarchical queries, stored procedures, triggers, analytic functions, creating regular or materialized views, tuning query performance and merging data from various Oracle and SQL Server databases.

4) 2 out the last 3 years experience in XML, Web Services.

Rate: $35.00/hr
