Job Description

Scion Nonprofit Staffing (www.scionnonprofitstaffing.com) has been engaged to conduct a search for a Grants Management Director for our client, a prestigious nonprofit organization in Redwood City, CA.

 

OVERVIEW
The Grants Management Director reports to the Senior Director of Finance of the organization. The purpose of this position is to extend the financial capacity of the organization to include the management of private and federal funding. This position will support the leadership, development and management of all aspects of the organization?s financial functions with particular emphasis on the management of private and federal raised funds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual will lead accounting and reporting associated with organization?s grant awards to affiliates. These functions will require highly efficient and effective interaction with the organization?s program and fundraising teams, key affiliate foundation staff and financial staff of the organization?s other funding partners. Other responsibilities include oversight of account reconciliation and analysis as well as participation in the forecasting, budgeting, and audit processes.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
-Lead and oversee all aspects of grant management including finalizing the grant budget based on award, tracking activities for release of funds, and overseeing costs relative to funds received.
-Maintain knowledge of grant related activities, working closely with program, development and donor staff to ensure highest quality execution and financial management. Ensure journals are current to release funds as various parts of the grant are completed, and report on status of grant administration.
-Lead all activities associated with organization?s grant-making to affiliates.  Ensure compliance with funding sources, IRS regulations, and applicable programmatic activities.
-Work with key partner foundation to ensure accurate accounting in the foundation?s gifts module and Financial Edge of grants received and grants awarded to affiliates.
-Assume a leadership role in ensuring compliance with all pertinent federal regulations in the implementation of the organization?s recently awarded U.S. Department of Education grant.
-Participate in all aspects of tracking and reporting for grants received and awarded for both the IRS and the US Department of Education grant.
-Oversee all IRS form 990 grant reporting, provide leadership as directed in the completion of the organization?s 990 including but not limited to coordination with key partner foundation.
-Participate in organization?s forecasting and budgeting efforts associated with contributed revenue and corresponding grant expense.
-Coordinate activities associated with all grant audit functions. Specifically, with the support of organization?s Senior Director of Finance, lead all audit efforts required by the US Department of Education Grant.

Other Duties
-Provide assistance, as needed, in the completion of monthly finance requirements, board meeting preparation, and record-keeping for all major donors and restricted grants.
-In the execution of all job functions, ensure that all organization accounting policies and procedures are followed.
-Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
-4 year Accounting Degree required.
-Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience of non-profit fund accounting with specific experience in the tracking, reporting and administration of a federal grant.
-Demonstrated capacity for teamwork and leadership.
-Effective written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong problem solving skills.
-Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and a high level of integrity.
-Advanced excel skills with demonstrated accuracy in data entry and attention to detail.
-Demonstrated skill in Great Plains accounting software a plus.
