Construction Supervisor (closed)
The role focuses on achieving optimal use of resources in implementing capital and process improvement projects through efficient management of asset construction activities. This implies effective contractor management geared to meeting project cost, schedule and quality objectives. The selected candidate will:
Review construction plans, and schedule and coordinate construction activities to minimize disruptions.
Be responsible for organizing contractor activities and monitoring contractor performance.
Recommend appropriate changes to optimize cost and meet project schedules.
Facilitate resolution of construction conflicts via appropriate channels.
Stay informed of contractors' activities and their equipment capabilities; meet with contractors regularly for project progress and/or status updates.
Keep stakeholders informed of current project status.
Interact with different work groups in the course of project implementation.
Ensure that the contractors are in compliance with quality assurance, and quality control standards, and government regulations.
Establish team goals/objectives/strategies; develop team members; achieve and maintain high team performance; manage and control costs; and implement procedures and guidelines to support the department's vision, mission, and strategies.
Prepare, solicit, analyze, and recommend awarding of construction contracts; consult with engineers as required.
Licensed Engineer, preferably Mechanical, Civil or Electrical.
At least 5 years of construction experience in the Oil & Gas or Power/Energy Industries, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
Strong familiarity with varying disciplines, codes, and standards in construction.
Background in Project Management, Project Engineering, and Contractor Management.
Superior organizational skills. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks, and manage manpower, equipment, and materials.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
Willing to work in a provincial assignment.
