Enterprise Data Architect (closed)
ROLE: The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for system design, implementation, and administration of all components that make up the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Data Marts infrastructure, applications and related tools. The Architect must demonstrate knowledge of data warehouse implementation process, from business requirements through logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing and data transformation, data loading, developing the overall data warehouse architecture and physical implementation of standards.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following: : Architect the enterprise data warehouse design for conceptual, logical, and physical representations. : Design databases and data integration along with the means to access the data. : Design for operational and analytical data requirements. : Collaborate on the master data management design, implementation and support. : Establish data architecture, warehouse, and integration standards. : Facilitate conformance to design methodology, overall data warehouse architectural compliance and infrastructure coordination and preparation. Resolve subsequent issues and make modifications to ensure ongoing correlation between data models and physical data base structure. : Develop archival, backup and recovery strategy. : Serve as a technical expert to data warehouse project teams. : Design and create physical database objects (tables, views, indexes) to support normalized and dimensional models. : Mentor development, application and other warehouse architects to provide an overall solution approach. : Collaborate with BI developers and conduct JAD sessions, driving requirements from our business customers. : Analyze source system data structures and map them to target data warehouse schemas. : Perform requirements analysis, data assessment, business process reengineering, and demonstrate expertise with data warehousing design concepts such as 3rd Normal Form and Dimensional modeling. : Provide design and execution guidance for Extract, Transform, and Load data movements. : Train staff on Teradata technologies and techniques. : Oversee responsibilities of Managed Services outsourced resources for level 1 and basic administrative duties. : This is both a technical and leadership position. Will be required to present and communicate with executive level management. Must be comfortable communicating with and presenting to groups of experienced professionals on a regular basis.
SKILLS/RESPONSIBILITIES: : Work with the business analysts and/or functional users to perform detailed data analysis to develop the data model for the data warehouse and data marts. : Design physical data models for multi-generation, full life cycle data warehouse. : Create physical database objects including fact tables, dimensions, staging, materialized views, and indexes in accordance with logical data model. : Provide project estimates for EDW solutions (database modeling, ETL and BI). : Ensure the data assets of the company are supported by an architecture enabling the organization to achieve its strategic goals. : Partner with other team members on design, administration, and support activities. Work closely with Product Managers/Business Analysts to understand and document business needs for decision support data. : Participate as Subject Matter Expert (SME) as required for design reviews, technology and tool selection. : Identify and implement technologies for ongoing database scalability, monitoring and performance improvement : Perform capacity planning including allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements. : Stay current on procedures, products and technologies as they relate to data warehouse progress, economic change and business needs. : Manage ongoing documentation of database structure (ERD). : Responsible for preparation of database requirements throughout the data warehouse implementation. : Collaborate with various groups to identify and research data quality issues. : Serves as escalation point for database issues. : Demonstrates initiative with or without direct authority. : Demonstrates creativity in solving problems or generating improvement ideas. : Self-motivated time management. : Supports and maintains positive attitude and vision with peers, associates, team members and management. : Ability to prioritize competing or conflicting requests and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. : Utilizes good judgment. : Must exhibit strong communication skills. : Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. : Extensive written and oral communication skills.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Masters or foreign equivalent degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field with 4 years of experience in designing Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions in a 24x7 environment with multi-terabyte, multi-application databases. 4 years of experience architecting data warehouse structures, designing and implementing data domain models, developing enterprise hierarchies and data integration, and assessing data quality. 3-4 years creating transformations for OLTP source systems to EDW solutions. 3 years of experience architecting data flow strategies in near real time for Enterprise Data Warehouse. 3 years working experience administering Teradata database utilizing Teradata Manager load utilities and third party add-ons.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience within the hospitality/gaming industry preferred.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field. Masters Degree required.
