We are currently seeking a Java EE Developer for a permanent opportunity based out of our Vancouver, BC offices

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Java EE Developer, under the supervision of the Development Team Lead is responsible for supporting a critical application portfolio of Java applications.  Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Providing application development & operational support and maintenance including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution
• Developing and supporting extensions to the capabilities of the application(s), producing reports using system provided tools, and customizing and configuring the COTS applications
• Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures, coordinating and communicating with impacted parties
• Performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
• Applying maintenance patches and upgrades on a regular basis, upgrading administrative tools and utilities, and configure / adding new services as necessary
• Provide 24x7 on call support as required

MUST-HAVES:

• 5-7+ years’ experience in Java using Oracle dbase layer. UNIX and Windows Operating systems.
• 5-7+ years production writing rock-solid HTML and JavaScript
• Weblogic Application Server Enterprise Edition – Application deployment, configuration and Troubleshooting, understanding of Oracle Client, Cygin, Windows 2003 Server is a must
• Experience developing and supporting applications with Oracle Forms
• Demonstrated work experience with application development and support
• Excellent communication skills
• Positive, flexible, open-minded approach towards work assignments
• Good interpersonal skills with a natural ability to work with and support colleagues, ability to adapt to and work effectively with clients and co-workers with different styles and levels of technical knowledge
• Must be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision and work well under pressure
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, debugging skills and proven ability to discern critical from minor problems.
• Ability to prioritize, manage, and handle multiple tasks at one time

NICE-TO-HAVES:

• Experience developing and supporting operational and ad-hoc reports using Cognos (Data Manager, Powerplay, Framework Manager, Query Studio, Metrics Studio, Report Studio)
• Experience as an Informatica ETL developer
• Experience with programming (XML, HTML, C, C++)
• Scripting experience in C shell, Bash, Batch file, ColdFusion, JavaScript, Korn shell, PHP, Perl, Python, Squib, VBScript
• Demonstrated ability to work in teams with specific performance targets
• Application development and support experience within a publicly or privately-held utilities organization.
• ITIL v3 Foundation Certification
• Experience with formal methodologies, preferably with Fujitsu’s Macroscope Methodology, for Application Management and System Development
