Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage hardware-engineering contractors and staff in the design, develop, and maintenance of consumer video telecommunications hardware (VideoPhone).
  • Lead electrical and mechanical engineering designs by following engineering best practices to deliver high-quality products.
  • Work with Industrial Designers and Product Management to deliver products that are high performance and attractive.
  • Demonstrate excellence in designing high-speed digital signal processing solutions.
  • Build project schedules and provide commitment to meet project goals.
  • Apply corporate procedures and practices in leading engineers to achieve company goals and schedules.
  • Manage team relationship and work with vendors and other 3rd party design teams.
  • Recruit and maintain a world-class hardware design team.
  • Provide technical expertise and industry development insight to the corporate management team.
  • Positively contribute to a challenging, rewarding, and fun environment.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience:

 

  • MS degree in EE, ECE, or equivalent with excellent technical skills
  • 10-15 years of experience developing state-of-the-art video, conferencing, telecommunication, or related communication systems.

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Understanding of rapid prototyping and commercial production processes using international manufacturing resources.
  • Strong understanding of design for test and design for manufacturing.
  • Experience managing outsourced design contractors and Asian, high-volume manufacturing.
  • Master with schematic capture and layout tools and processes.
  • History of design cost reduction, design for manufacturing, and design for test.
  • Expert in risk analysis, project planning, and resource management.
  • Knowledge of image sensors, touch screens, cameras, lenses, USB, Linux/BSP, and networking is a plus.
  • Must have good communication skills and be eager to work in a team environment with other dedicated engineers.
