Mining/Quarry Supervisor

Austin Professional Search Inc.  is currently recruiting for a Mining/Quarry Supervisor with strong experience in supervising hourly employees in mining/quarry and heavy duty mechanics.

Job Description

  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements.
  • Coordinates the department activities to minimize downtime, makes efficient use of manpower and eliminates reoccurring problems.
  • Examines material to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Monitors and controls blasting safety through the plant.
  • Coordinates the activities of the quarry.
  • Directly supervises the hourly employees in the quarry department.
  • Directly supervises Heavy Duty Mechanics in the quarry department

(GENERAL OVERVIEW)

  • Directly supervises the hourly employees in the quarry.
  • Promotes safe work practices and provides resources to assure that equipment and personnel operate in a safe manner.
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and coordinates with other department supervisors to determine materials requirements.
  • Coordinates the department activities to minimize downtime, makes efficient use of manpower and eliminates any reoccurring problems.
  • Examines material to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Computes amount of materials required to complete job demand.
  • Monitors and controls movement of material on automated conveyor system.
  • Continually develops employees understanding of the current manufacturing process.
  • Monitors and controls blasting safety through the plant.
  • Promotes environmental awareness and assures that equipment operates in accordance with plant environmental goals.
  • Monitors road maintenance to reduce tire costs.
  • Develops and maintains preventative maintenance on all rolling stock.
  • Works with union representatives and other parties to resolve issues and/or grievances.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

  • Relevant College or University diploma/degree. Experience/training in the area of mine engineering is an asset.

Other Skills/Requirements:

  • Drill & Blast Training
  • Mechanical aptitude/experience.
  • Familiarization with heavy equipment
  • Knowledge of cement manufacturing.
  • Mine planning using AutoCAD and DataMine is desirable.
