Job Description

3+ month assignment with an oil and gas corporation:

  • Providing Oracle 10/11 database administration, database security and production support, primarily in a UNIX environment
  • Installing, upgrading and maintaining of the Oracle databases
  • Planning and executing of database backup and recovery
  • Providing database tuning for performance and stability
  • Managing physical database design and implementation, database security implementation and monitoring
  • Using ConocoPhillips change management processes to prevent production disruptions and outages
  • Researching and recommending solutions that best meet business needs and Enterprise operational requirements
  • Partnering with other groups to ensure quality support and delivery to the end-user
  • This position participates in an on-call rotation with other DBA's to provide 24X7 coverage

Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5+ years of direct DBA experience working with Oracle
  • 2+ years of direct support of one or more SAP on Oracle databases
  • Experience with ABAP Workbench and SAP transactions for job scheduling, database tuning/statistics, and creation of data dictionary objects
  • 5+ years of direct IT experience providing server support, database support or application programming
  • Good diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem solving for Oracle
  • Ability and willingness to perform tasks outside normal business hours and on weekends as well as carry an on call pager for at least one week every 6 to 8 weeks

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or other IT/IS related major
  • Experience with Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM)
  • Experience with configuring and managing Oracle Data Guard standby databases
  • Experience with configuring and managing databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
  • Experience with Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) using command-line and OEM
  • Experience with Oracle Diagnostic and/or Tuning Packs for Oracle databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Expert diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem solving for Oracle
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones and geography
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment to encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Self-directed and self-motivated to solve problems quickly and creatively
