Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated undergraduate student to work as a part-time research assistant in the Diabetes Prevention and Remission group focusing on inflammation-mediated insulin resistance within the CVMED research unit. The successful candidate must be well-organized, enthusiastic, and hard-working. Invaluable opportunities for scientific growth will be available for the exceptional candidate. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must be working towards a BS or MS degree in the biomedical sciences or related field, with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Basic comprehension and hands-on experience in standard molecular biological techniques, aseptic technique, and mammalian cell culture is required, with a minimum of 6 months of relevant experience in an academic or industrial setting. RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary focus will be on execution of biochemical and cell-based assays to support the identification and characterization of lead compounds. Responsibilities will include conducting in vitro and ex vivo experiments to generate in-depth knowledge of compound mechanism and relevance to human cell biology, as well as basic laboratory duties, such as ordering/stocking/preparing lab supplies and reagents, and maintaining lab equipment. A strong commitment to mastering various molecular and cell biology techniques is expected
