JOB TITLE: Blood Bank Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: A working bench technologist, the section leader is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of their specific laboratory section.  The technical supervisor is not required to be on site at all times testing is performed; however, must be accessible to the laboratory on an as needed basis.  Maintains current knowledge of evidence based best practices and standards of care related to aspects of their specific area, referencing AABB, CLSI, CAP, and Joint Commission and devleops/maintains policies and procedures for their area.  Coordinate and oversee process improvement and provides input into performance appraisals and other managerial activities within the unit.  Provides counseling, coaching, and guidance for employees and makes referrals as indicated.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical lab science from an accredited insitution. MT (ASCP) certification required and SBB is preferred.
