Required Skills:
BA/BS in social sciences/market research/business/marketing/statistics, graduate degree preferable
Approximately 6 + years of marketing research experience is needed. Can be a combination of research supplier, ad agency and client side.
Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research techniques
Given the responsibilities of the manager, working knowledge of a variety of other groups is necessary (e.g. marketing, advertising and R&D).
Manage brand/category marketing research initiatives and help define the marketing research agenda for the category/marketing team.
Impact the business by interpreting, synthesizing and effectively communicating the results from research studies (integrating additional data sources as necessary).
Utilize research best practices in order to employ traditional and innovative solutions to generate breakthrough, actionable insights.
Objectively represent the voice of the consumer at all times.
Execute and communicate consumer research projects/results understanding the implications of consumer research on the total business. The person should essentially become a full partner and extension of the category/marketing team. While the main role on the team is the insights expert, they should be seen as a very well-informed, objective voice on the team.
The ability to execute consumer research projects autonomously and with excellence is a key element that distinguishes a successful manager
Major Duties:
Partner with marketing teams to assess/prioritize the business issues and clearly articulate key questions.
Manage/execute consumer research projects to answer key questions and successfully communicate actionable research findings/implications to marketing.
Disseminate consumer learning across brands in order to draw actionable insights that improve marketing productivity and drive business results.
Manage research projects, including timing, reporting and working within a specified budget.
Assist marketing team with developing actionable strategies and tactics.
Assist in raising profile of IMI team by participating in people development and other management activities when necessary.
