Global Commodities Trading House based in Central London, looking for a Gas Operator to join on a temp to perm basis.

MAIN JOB FUNCTION:

The Gas Operator is part of a 24-hour shift team responsible for the day-to-day operational management of our gas activities and other operational services provided to the group. These include managing equity gas production in the UK, dispatching and balancing gas in networks in the UK and Norway, mitigation of financial penalties, booking and trading capacity, trading gas out of hours, and providing analytical work to support the Gas Operations and Trading activities.

The business is subject to change throughout the day and the team monitor needs to react to these changes, which can generate profit or cost-saving opportunities. The team liaises with upstream operators, gas reception terminals and pipeline operators in Europe as well as numerous trading counterparties. ?The shift comprises?seven individuals, working a variable 24/7 shift pattern, which includes working from home with the out-of-hours equipment.

Reporting to the Gas Operations Manager, your responsibilities include:

To perform operational activities of the managed gas portfolios on a day-to-day basis.

To participate in the 24/7 duty rota.

To process all weekly/daily nominations.

To produce production forecasts and I&C forecasts accurately and in a timely manner.

To book transportation capacity in an accurate and timely manner.

To trade gas in order to balance portfolios on an out-of-hours basis.

To support closely gas trading team.

To work closely with external clients and customers.

To assist in control of our Operations to mitigate and minimise costs.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONS:

Degree level education, preferably in a quantitative discipline.

Knowledge of UK and Norway gas operations strongly preferred.

Commercial awareness and able to make rapid and accurate decisions.

Team player coupled with the ability to work independently.

Highly numerate with excellent computer skills.

Excellent communication skills.

Able to be in sole charge of balancing tasks.

Ability to participate in duty rota and to work from home to cover 24-hour operations (One week in every four).

Able to adapt to frequent changes in procedures and processes.

CONTRACT & REMUNERATION:

Minimum 6 months, competitive remuneration package commensurate with experience and skill sets.
