Intermediate or Senior Java Developer – Downtown Toronto (permanent position) 

Our client is seeking an Intermediate (3 – 5 years) or Senior (5+ years) Java Developer to do server side development, web development, live computation and multi-threading.  Our client is only interested in developers coming from software development firms where they have done full SDLC, preferably in a senior or team lead role.

You also must have top-notch skills as our client will put you through your paces in an in depth technical interview.  This position reports to the Managing Director of Quant R & D, and will be working with two highly skilled senior developers.

Note: this position is located in downtown Toronto.  You will be expected to work onsite every day.  

You will be working in a trading floor/department environment on cutting-edge technology for a high-performance financial institution (bank). Although our client is a large organization, they’re looking for someone who can work effectively in a small, start-up type of environment.  Development will include a broad diversity of projects, such as Global Derivatives, anything from pricing models, to reports, trading systems, etc.  You will also be contributing to the building of analytic libraries.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional core Java skills, will love writing code independently, and taking projects through the entire SDLC.  You will enjoy talking to the Traders to gather their requirements and you will revel in delivering software that will give the Traders a competitive advantage.  To do all that, you will need the following as a minimum:

Requirements:

• 3+ years experience in Java development within a software development firm
• some VBA and some SQL
• ability to think, logically and creatively
• B. Math or M. Math is preferred (logical thinking in a structured way)
• willingness to work hard and ability to learn quickly
• great communication skills, verbal and written
