Checkpoint Firewall Administrator
Expert in all aspects of the installation, maintenance and usage of a large-scale local and wide area network. Manages network performance and maintains security. Evaluates current networks, identifies deficiencies and recommends performance improvements.
Assumes a technical leadership role or supervisory as required. Monitors system resource allocation and utilization and performs capacity planning. Maintains expertise with, and advises management on, current technologies. A visionary and self starter to take charge of current operations from high-level, covering all aspects of network operations including but not limited to: access and core switching (including layer-2 & layer-3), producing high-level network engineering designs, working knowledge of routers, routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, IEGRP, VPNs, VLANs, encrypted tunnels, encryption technology, Change Management process, Configuration Management, and Project Management and scheduling. Technical writer with proven customer services skills.
Qualifications
- · At least ten (10) years’ experience in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer network
- · At least eight (8) years’ experience in a technical leadership or supervisory role
- · At least five years’ experience in a large organization responsible for deploying computer system applications in a client/server network environment
- · Thorough knowledge of computer network telecommunications, firewall, Windows Server operating systems, and TCP/IP protocol
- · Thorough knowledge of PKI and supporting technologies
- · Thorough knowledge of network management protocols and related standard tools
- · Thorough knowledge of network-based application software such as Exchange, Oracle, DNS, DNSSec, DHCP, Internet based Domain Naming services and registration process
- · Thorough knowledge of telecommunications, network, and computer security issues and established security practices
- · At least four (4) years’ experience troubleshooting network problems and providing solutions
- · At least five (5) years in testing and implementing PC LAN technologies and computer system applications At least five (5) years networking administration experience in a large organization or corporation
- · Experience evaluating current networks, identifying deficiencies, and recommending performance improvements
- · Lead approved LAN and WAN technology deployments and network expansions and upgrades, insuring that contractor staff follow documented procedures and policies
- · Recommend equipment, parts and software required to be purchased by the Government in support of the System Improvement Plan
- · At least four (4) years of progressive experience in managing and supporting Disaster Recovery and COOP operations and further expansions
- · Technical certification (e.g., Cisco Certified Network Professional or Cisco Certified Design Professional)
