Job Role
The Technology (R&T) Project Leader reports directly to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for the definition, delivery and technical management of company NPD/R&T projects. The role is primarily one of technical project management requiring both technical and project management skills.
The position is an excellent first step into technical management and opportunities exist for suitable candidates to represent the business within national and international technical forums.
Specifically for this role individuals will need to demonstrate experience of stress analysis (static and fatigue) of complex structures and experience of materials development.
Duties
-Define project Statements of Work in conjunction with the Programme Chief Engineer, technical experts and/or R&T Programme Management team for:
>Objectives, Schedule, Milestones and Deliverables.
>Technology Readiness Level (TRL) targeted and Means of Compliance.
>Alignment to company technology development strategy
-When the project Statements of Work has been has been approved, define budget and teams required by Engineering Functions and develop Work Package Specifications where necessary.
-Manage the project technically and approve deliverables including:
>Represent company as technical interface with customers, partners, suppliers and national R&T funding agencies
>Provide monthly reporting as required for the project.
>Support provision of resource estimation to the Programme Management team for submission to company resource planning tool demand review process.
>Establish and maintain project deliverable status, control and report expenses and cost-to-completion via EDRP.
-Manage IP resulting from R&T project in coordination with R&T IP Manager.
-Support the R&T Programme Manager in reporting technical progress and submission of financial claims for externally funded projects.
-Represent company at relevant technical committees when nominated by Senior Management.
Qualifications and Experience
-Ideally Degree qualified in relevant Engineering discipline
-Experienced in Mechanical Engineering with material knowledge
-Demonstrable ability manage projects/programmes (including people and costs)
-Excellent Communication and organisational Skills (Influencing people at all levels)
