Instrument Advisor (closed)
Purpose
¨ Provide subject matter expertise, insight and direction to the planning, coordination and execution of all preventative and corrective maintenance activities on Instrumentation systems and equipment at all onshore and offshore facilities.
¨ Will be an Instrumentation Technical expert and will provide support to all onshore and offshore facilities and technicians
¨ Ensure that all Instrument Maintenance activities are performed in a safe and efficient manner with a minimum of down time.
Responsibilities
Business/Operations
¨ Provide technical supervision, assistance, mentoring and guidance to develop the technical and professional competencies of the National Technician workforce.
¨ Perform and provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for Instrument systems and equipment
¨ Support the planning, coordination and execution of all Instrument maintenance work activities safely, effectively and efficiently
¨ Liaise with contractors and vendors and maintain cost effective and high quality service.
¨ Communicate with all work groups and departments to safely execute all Instrument maintenance tasks
¨ Specify instrument equipment for procurement and advise field and facility team members on equipment selection as required.
¨ Ensure alignment and implementation with all Instrumentation Standards and corporate guidelines,
¨ Function as a technical focal point for Instrument Maintenance.
¨ Contribute to improvement in the areas of Inventory & Materials and Preventative Maintenance
¨ Demonstrated ability for proactive and forward thinking; must have a continuous improvement mindset and approach
¨ Thorough understanding of pneumatic, electronic and programmable field end devices and their relationship to the control system and plant function.
¨ Field site instrumentation, control systems control valves and communications

Requirements
¨ 15+ years Instrumentation Technician experience in Oil and Gas or Petrochemical field with appropriate certification in a related instrumentation discipline which could include training/apprenticeship as a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician, Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology or a BSc in Electrical / Controls Engineering.
¨ Vast knowledge and experience of the technical and functional aspects of Instrumentation and process controls
¨ Strong fundamental knowledge of electronics, oil and gas processes
¨ Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and drawings.
¨ Good working knowledge of work management and spares management systems and industry best practices
¨ High level of Computer literacy and technical understanding
¨ Strong Knowledge and hands on experience with pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic control systems, DCS’s, PLC’s, ESD systems and process automation systems.
¨ Highly developed understanding of the use and function of test equipment.
¨ Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel Power Point
