This individual works directly with Project Managers, manufacturing personnel, purchasing, and suppliers in a cross-functional environment, to produce custom 5-Axis machine products for the turbomachinery industry in an ISO 9001/2000 environment. Supervising CNC programmers and manufacturing engineers, he/she is accountable for providing non-stop continuous improvement utilizing the latest technologies and proprietary CN CAM software to meet target goals for quality, cost, and delivery.
An in-depth understanding of machining of stainless steels, titanium, and nickel-based alloys is essential. Knowledge of inspection methods and use of inspection tools and equipment is highly desirable. Initiate design for Manufacturing (DFMA) is required on new design projects and provide machining and development standards for RFQ's and manufacturing scheduling. Planning and analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy. A background in machine tool technology (5-Axis preferred), cutting tools, CAD/CAM, and material science is required. The ability to understand engineering drawings, GD&T, along with knowledge of 3D CAD systems (SolidWorks, Pro/E), and familiarity with MRP/ERP systems are important. A B.S. in mechanical engineering is preferred plus 10+ plus years manufacturing engineering experience in a similar CNC fabrication project-oriented environment including familiarity with turbomachinery and/or aerospace components. Excellent communication, teamwork, a strong work ethic and desire to succeed, and interpersonal skills are required.
