Job Description
An international insurance services company seeks an experienced Program Manager for their Tokyo team. The successful candidate will deliver projects to meet business objectives, supervise Project Managers and ensure the improvement of project governance methodologies and processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the delivery of projects and the project portfolio
- Strengthen the project office through the continuous improvement of project portfolio and project governance frameworks
- Supervise, coach & mentor a team of Project Managers towards successful project delivery
- Monitor & report on project progress regularly, manage project intake & initiation & follow through on benefits realisation
- Use knowledge of business model & operations to drive decisions on project scope and ensure alignment to business priorities
- Maintain key business & IT relationships to gain commitment for project accountability & execution support
- Ensure quality of deliverables by enforcing controls and coaching/mentoring PMs and working directly with their project teams
- Continuously improve on project controls and governance frameworks using internal & external feedback
Required skills and experience:
- 5+ years' experience managing business critical projects (experience with insurance product launches & SDLC preferred)
- Knowledge of life insurance/wealth products and insurance operations is required
- Project Management certification
- Past experience with team management (P/L, human resources, team operations)
- Past experience supporting/managing project portfolios
- Possesses good leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills to lead cross-functional teams and coach/advise peers and staff
- Proficient in project management tools, templates and project life cycle
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
- Fluent Japanese (including reading/writing); Advanced English (TOEIC 800+)
