Job Description
Quality Manager – Electronics Manufacturing – Charleston, SC
Position Summary:
The successful Quality Manager will apply practical & sound Quality & Class III requirements in the problem resolution process. In addition s/he will ensure current improvement programs are grown/developed in a manner where improvements are quantifiable. This position will report to the VP of Operations; however, position is expected to work professionally & closely with the complete team, bringing valued cross-functionally. The candidate is also expected to work professionally, closely and cross-functionally with the Leadership team to maintain Class III capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide effective and efficient leadership to the quality team and overall Quality Engineering support to organization
- Mentor continuous improvement teams based on Lean and Six Sigma principles
- Provide internal auditing oversight based on ISO-9001 & AS-9100 standards
- Provide oversight of RMA, Preventive & Corrective Action Reports
- Supplier Quality activities and Non-conforming Material data & tracking
- Participate as an active member of the Material Review Board
- Support quoting, manufacturing engineering, and product realization activities using industry standards as a basis
- Oversee testing of processes and products and customer, product, commercial, and military compliance requirements
- Identify quality-related training needs
- Direct the hiring, training and performance evaluations of assigned staff and oversee their daily activities
- Oversee departmental budget
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in quality assurance or related technical field
- At least 5 years quality management experience PLUS 2 years experience managing personnel
- Experience in production environment with DoD programs, Aerospace and SMT & Class III assemblies
- ASQ CQE and/or SSGB or BB or AME CCME
- Working understanding of ISO 9001 or AS9100
- Working knowledge of J & IPC Standards
- Working knowledge of SPC techniques
- Knowledge of electrical systems / controls
- Ability to project manage key deliverables
- Ability to perform technical analysis and prepare reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to bring practical approaches to complex and technical issues
- Solid desktop computer skills (Mini Tabs a plus)
- US Citizenship requirement; Must be able to obtain US Security Clearance if necessary
