Job Position

This job position is for the role of a Platform System Design Specialist on our Client’s Platform System team.

The Platform System team develops standards and tools for the installation and configuration of control system software. 

Education / Certification Requirements

A Bachelors or Associates degree in a technical field is required for this position.

This job has a strong emphasis on Information Technology skills, technical problem solving abilities, and hands on technical work.

The successful Platform System Design Specialist must be highly organized with strong time management skills.  Must be able to meet project goals and commitments regarding schedule and cost.

The Platform System Design Specialist must have project planning and tracking skills, able to multi-task, be self motivated, and have attention to details.  Ability to work well with minimal supervision with good problem solving skills.

The successful Platform System Design Specialist must have strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner.

In this role, you will Design, Develop, Test, Deliver, and Support:

• Packaging of Microsoft Operating Systems for automatic installation
• Software tools for automatic configuration of Microsoft Operating Systems
• Installation scripts for automatic installation of software
• Software tools for automatic configuration of installed software
• Network architectures and topologies
• Firewall rules
• Detailed installation procedures for building a server and workstation environment for process control systems
• Detailed server and workstation replacement and repair procedures

Other job responsibilities

Other responsibilities of a Platform System Design Specialist include:

• Participating in requirements gathering sessions
• Interacting with field support personnel in problem troubleshooting and resolution
• Interacting with implementation personnel on installations
• Working with vendors on software and hardware issues
• Working with the Information Systems group on security design
• Bundling, testing, and distributing virus definitions for plant installations
• Maintaining the networks, servers, and workstations in the lab environment
• Managing hardware life cycle and obsolescence issues
• Managing software life cycle and obsolescence issues
