Job Description

This position is responsible for providing strategic and tactical support for Client’s Windows server environment. This position provides oversight for all components of server-side support technologies related to Microsoft Windows 2003/2008, VMware, Microsoft SCOM, Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Active Directory, and File and Folder permissions. This position provides day to day operations support, inventory and asset management, server builds, application support, and project-related activity.

Essential Functions

 

1. Provides day-to-day operational server support to include:

 

• Ticket Management and Execution

 

•Delegating requests to appropriate team members

•Providing first response to requests when possible

 

o Applying file/folder security standards to grant data access

 

• Inventory and Asset Management

 

o Provide hardware support and RMA actions

o Engage hardware ordering process as needed - Server Builds

o Provisioning

o Operating System Deployment

o Configuration

o Monitoring

o Troubleshooting

o Decommissioning

 

2. Extensive knowledge to effectively maintain and support the following applications:

 

• System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

 

• System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)

 

3. Support project and project-related activity

 

4. Ensure server systems are well monitored and secured; makes recommendations for improvement; Assists in the creation of standard operating procedures pertaining to the server operations and maintenance

 

5. Maintains knowledge of emerging systems support technological trends and utilizes this knowledge to educate both IT and the business on opportunities to build better IT solutions to support and drive business decisions

6. Participate in afterhours patch deployment activities as needed

7. Other duties as assigned

 

Details Specific to this Job :

Pre-Requisites

•Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and client-server application support/troubleshooting

•Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

•Familiarity with TCP/IP and other network protocols, and operating system configuration

•Excellent verbal and written communications skills

•Able to follow and produce process documentation

•Understanding technologies such as SAN or NAS

•Established strategic and critical analysis skills

•Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

•Advanced knowledge of Power shell scripting
