Job Description
Position: Production Supervisor
Location: Calgary

SUMMARY: The Production Supervisor / Operations Scheduler is responsible for managing all aspects of manufacturing within assigned area to produce high quality electrical and mechanical facility support systems. Assure timely delivery of quality products to the customer while continuously improving the safety and productivity of the work environment. The performance rating of the individual in this position is based on the behaviors and results related to the metrics set forth for safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory and people within the plant and the specific department of responsibility. It is expected that an individual in this position have a solid understanding of continuous improvement tools and methods in order to define and implement said efforts to drive and sustain the results related to these metrics. An individual in this position is responsible for the daily management of 5 to 15 operations employees through continuous engagement and accountability for behaviors and results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Manage on time delivery of quality products in safe and productive work environment by execution of tactical production schedule.
Create production schedules that increase productivity, minimize cost, and meet customer demands.
Identify and champion implementation of continuous improvement projects focused around improving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity. Utilization of Lean, TPS, Tier 1 and Tier 2, and other continuous improvement tools and methods. Responsible for Value Stream metrics and counter measures.
Train, coach, develop, and set clear expectations for associate behavior and performance. Drive accountability among associates to ensure expectations are achieved and sustained.
Apply cost containment principles for use and purchase of indirect goods and services to operate within and below budget expectations.
Interact with Planning, Purchasing, Shipping, and Engineering department staff to ensure customer expectations are met.
Lead and participate in GDP and TLIP action plan teams.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety. Responsible for following established policies, procedures, training, and associate involvement activities. This includes participating on the Plant Safety Committee and Action Plan teams.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree from accredited four year college or university required. Engineering or Business related concentrations are preferred. Master's degree is is a plus. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Experience: 1-3 years of Supervisory and Production Planning experience in manufacturing with emphasis in process improvements in the areas of lean manufacturing and quality required. 3-5 years preferred. Experience with SAP, Toyota Production System (TPS), and welding a plus.

Preferred: Six Sigma Certification.
