Scope
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services. This includes processing payments and expenditures as well as reception, filing and administrative duties. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that finances are maintained in an effective, up to date and accurate manner

RESPONSIBILITIES:
|
Accounts Payable
Perform the day to day processing of accounts payable.
Main Activities:
- • Receive, verify, sort and file invoices - check billing rates against contracts and agreements as applicable
- • Validate applicable taxes (GST/HST etc) and ensure proper accounting treatment
- • Prepare and/or verify employee expense reports and assist with expense report analysis
- • Code and enter invoices, expense reports, accruals and accrual adjustments into Simply accounting
- • Produce and record cheques
- • Prepare cheques for mailing or/and distribution
- • Prepare wire payments
- • Maintain listing of accounts payable including reconciling vendor statement of accounts
- • Print and distribute financial reports, as required
Accounts Receivable/Banking
Aids in the day to day accounts receivable function and performs the daily cash function.
- • Receive, process and record payments
- • Prepare daily bank deposits and maintain the manual deposit books
- • Assist with Collection process (as required) including creating weekly account aging report.
Office Administration Duties
- Filing
- Receive mail and distribute as necessary
- Reception
- Greet clients or customers when entering into office
- General office duties

EDUCATION:
|
- 2 years or more related experience
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Associates Degree or Higher
|
|
EXPERIENCE:
|
- You MUST have experience with ORACLE
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills
- Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy
- Highly organized and flexible
- Ability to multitask and meet changing deadlines
- Must be self directed and able to complete projects with limited supervision
- Maintains staff confidentiality
- Working knowledge of email, scheduling, spreadsheets and presentation software
