Position Title:                       Senior Systems Engineer I

Department:                          Information Technology

Reports to:                            Director

We are looking for a strong technical candidate, with a passion to drive operational excellence in the design, implementation and support of strategic solutions that empower our users. Candidates must be able to mentor and empower teammates, as well as take on significant independent responsibilities. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership characteristics, and be capable of playing a Team Lead role and at the same time being a highly productive individual contributor.

• Develop scalable, high availability, and maintainable infrastructure solutions
• Delivery of solutions within budget, schedule and quality guidelines
• Leverage both in-house and vendor resource models

• Work with in-house application development team to determine software requirements and system impacts
• Disaster recovery design, planning, coordination and testing

Management Responsibilities:

• Effective vendor management
  • Work with vendors on evaluating, procuring and licensing systems for software and hardware
  • Work with hardware and software vendors to ensure timely resolution to any issues that arise
  • Asset management and conducting contract and licensing compliance evaluations
  • Production support, including 24/7 on-call rotation and Helpdesk support
  • Coordinate and execute equipment configuration and installation
  • Point of contact for customer service and satisfaction
  • Status reporting for current activities and projects
  • Conduct systems analysis and recommend process and procedure improvements
  • Actively maintain technical documentation to support operational processes
  • Follow industry best practices, procedures and concepts
  • Assist with the development of and enforcement of corporate IT standards and policies
  • Report on key availability and performance metrics

Required Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Information Systems or a related field
• 5+ years of experience working in IT Operations
• Excellent  interpersonal and communication skills
• Project and task oriented with a focus on details
• Motivated to improve service, efficiency, and quality of work on an on-going basis
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments (i.e., integrating cloud service providers with in-house infrastructure)
• Demonstrated success managing service providers
