Job Description

Our client, located in New York, NY is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer for an immediate full-time position.  Details include:

 

OVERALL SUMMARY

Successful candidates for this position must have prior experience in operating large, high-volume, distributed web sites. Experience in Web and other interactive technology development is a plus.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

-Maintaining and enhancing the web infrastructure in support of our client’s new and existing on-line products

-Configure, enhance and troubleshoot a modern web application stack including Apache, Weblogic and database components

-Understand and facilitate DNS requirements and requests

-Work with various groups within and outside of the client to configure, troubleshoot and enhance server load-balancing devices

-Work with various groups within and outside of the client to troubleshoot and provide configuration requirements for networking devices

-General Linux system administration related to the support of the Web Technology group

-Creation, execution and analysis of large-scale load tests

 

REQUIREMENTS

-BS in CS, Comp Eng, EE or other technology related field is preferred

-All levels of experience will be considered

-Experience in operating high volume web sites in a multi-location environment.

-Demonstrated knowledge of solving the problems of scale engineering for large web sites

-Demonstrated knowledge with Apache, Weblogic, memcached

-In-depth UNIX skills and concepts with deep understanding of web applications, databases, network, servers, server virtualization, and storage.

-Demonstrated experiences with web serving technologies, content management systems, configuration management systems, load balancing, monitoring systems.

-Working knowledge of web development tools and techniques (HTML, XML, J2EE, JSP, Javascript).

-Working knowledge of designing, running and analyzing large-scale load-tests using industry standard tools.

-Demonstrated ability to lead both technical and non-technical discussions with both technical and non-technical end users.

-Strong skills in critical thinking, problem solving, troubleshooting and analysis.

-Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills.

-Thorough, efficient and detail-oriented.

-Takes initiative and is self-directed.

-Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment with potentially conflicting priorities.

- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, able to balance multiple projects and tasks and complete them successfully within timelines.
