Our client is a fast-paced, VC-backed start-up poised to disrupt the power electronics industry. We are developing a new class of power electronics systems that operate in the VHF switching regime. At 1000x the switching frequency their technology delivers high efficiency into industry?s smallest form factors while maintaining a structural cost advantage. We are seeking talented and highly motivated engineers to join our team.
· Position Description
We are recruiting an experienced engineer with hands-on design and development experience in AC-DC power electronics system design. In this role you will be responsible for system architecture and design of AC-DC systems. You will work with members of the engineering staff in developing innovative power solutions that enable high performance AC-DC supplies with switching frequencies in the 10s of MHz range. You will also ensure design compliance with relevant electrical safety and validation standards for worldwide applications, interface with safety and test organizations such as UL to get necessary approvals, and ensure reliability. Power levels range from a few watts to 100s of watts with universal input voltage and various DC output voltages.
o Experience designing AC-DC power converters with broad knowledge of topologies and implementations, control techniques, and PFC approaches, modeling and simulation
o In-depth knowledge of worldwide safety requirements with practical knowledge of design techniques and a good understanding of various insulation requirements
o Experience in the safety approvals process including interfacing with UL, CSA, etc. and gaining required certifications for power electronics equipment
o Familiarity with EMI requirements and experience with gaining necessary approvals
· Desired Experience
o Knowledge of RF power electronics
o Background in reliability testing of power systems
o Experience in specifying and designing switching power supply ICs preferred
o Familiarity with common EDA tools ? SPICE, MATLAB, physics packages
Qualified candidates must have completed MS in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience. Candidates should be prepared to discuss successful experiences creative problem solving.
