Job Description

Lucas Group is partnering with an established software firm that develops accounting systems for the utility and energy industries,

Currently under development, their Rates and Regulatory Module offers a rich set of analytics and dashboards which track regulatory rate of return for the utility industry. With this monitoring system, management can quickly make strategic adjustments as they can monitor how actuals compare to the rate case. This system provides executives the visibility needed to understand the effectiveness of current rates to help their companies completely recover costs.

In addition, their software drives the rate case process with automation, eliminating the need for complicated spreadsheets and manual processes that burden most regulated entities. This unique offering offers a fresh approach to the complicated area of utility price rating.

 We’re looking for a Functional Consultant to join their team.  

This person would have developed a certain level of expertise in consulting with companies involved in utility rate case and regulatory proceedings.

Initial responsibilities include developing functional specifications as the product is being tuned for Beta.

As the product roles out, the Consultant will

assist in the implementation of their regulatory software at utility clients.

Activities will include gaining an understanding of a client’s regulatory environment and implementing their regulatory analytics and filing module to conform to this environment. Other work activities will include strategic consulting with clients on ratemaking issues, cost of service issues and cost allocation issues.

The ideal candidate will have between 7 and 10 years of experience in consulting with companies involved in utility rate case and regulatory proceedings. Expert testifying experience or testimony support is a plus. A degree in Accounting, Finance or Engineering is preferred. Candidates must have excellent analytical skills, the ability to interact professionally and tactfully with all levels of internal personnel and client contacts and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the many of the following aspects of utility ratemaking:

 

 

Multiple state jurisdictions

 FERC Formula Rates

 

 Alternative recovery mechanisms like clauses/rate riders

 

 Performance based regulation

 

 Historic and forecast test periods

 

 Electric, gas and water utilities

 

 Customer class cost of service

 

 Rate design

 

 Ratemaking for income taxes

 

 Familiarity with ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, Peoplesoft

 

 

 

This role will involve significant travel during release and roll-out.  A standard M-Thurs travel week can be expected.

 

Ideally this individual will be based in Atlanta.  Accommodations for traveling to HQ will be considered for the right individual.
