Position:     Design Engineer

Brief Summary Of Primary Duties:

•   Monitor   and evaluate key production indicators, such as scrap, usage, downtime, and   machine performance and execute improvement plans.
•   Maintain   all process guidelines, such as TI’s, SOP’s, and FOD’s, with all current   prescribed changes and ensure strict adherence.
•   Root cause   analysis of process issues / product defects.
•   Maintain first   hand knowledge of daily performance of assigned processes (i.e, spend high %   of time on shop floor)
•   Evaluate   and recommend new equipment for all phases of processing.
•   Commission   all new equipment installed for manufacturing.
•   Seek ways   to reduce manufacturing cost
•   Provide   the Technological function with required assistance for process and product   development.
•   Provide   24/7 coverage as required on process related issues. (i.e. on call)

Specific   Skills/

Training   Required

•   Outstanding ability to communicate (verbally and in   writing) with shop floor associates, peers and upper management
•   Strong Analytical and Problem solving abilities
•   Technical writing

•   Strong knowledge of Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint,   Word, Access)
•   Computer literate
•   Basic mechanical and electrical
•   Extrusion process including all associated equipment
•   Function in a team environment
•   Ability to work under minimal supervision
•   Hazardous Waste Training

Education/

Experience   Required

•   BS degree Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Polymer or   Electrical Engineering
•   Two to four years experience in manufacturing   environment ( in extrusion process)

Physical   Requirements Safety Requirements

Safety shoes   required when working in the production areas

Safety glasses   required when working in the production areas

Hearing Protection   Required when performing duties in posted areas

Ability to stand   and walk 2-4 hours during a  9+ hour   day

Ability to write   and type and perform various other tasks which require manipulative use of   the hands
