Job Summary

The Manager of Global Trade Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and driving best business practice in global trade compliance to ensure customs, regulatory and logistics compliance in all locations where TOMS operates. This role encompasses both commercial and giving logistics.

 

This position will be directly responsible for managing all global brokerage standard operating procedures, provide technical assistance such as product valuation, Trade Zone management, tariff classifications and documentation requirements, to assist TOMS Product Development and Giving teams to help optimize product sourcing and delivery requirements.

 

Essential Functions

Develop, execute and manage the Global Trade Compliance program

  • Develop, implement and manage all Global Trade Compliance requirements, including establishing and managing projects and

process developments that address all global compliance requirements.

  • Establish corporate customs & duties policies and procedures and guide the strategy with regard to Customs planning and compliance for both the Commercial and Giving requirements
  • Manage global custom compliance risk, operate as the lead advisor on customs compliance topics, manage C-TPAT and AEO

certification and drive duty optimization activities.

  • Evaluate the benefits of utilizing Foreign Trade Zones, Free Trade Zones and Bonded Warehouses across the Global Logistics

network. Develop and implement the compliance processes to enable taking advantage of such programs.

  • In collaborations with key stakeholders, manage global trade compliance risk and performance, ensure that all required processes and procedures are in place to offer scalable, sustainable and compliant solutions.
  • Provide best in class, high performance recommendations to manage and improve Global Trade Compliance; work with internal and external stakeholders to gain approval and implement recommendations.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices that assist in the importation of Giving shipments to our global NGO partners.
  • Responsible for developing and deploying all Internal Compliance Audits as well as managing all external Global Customs audits and requests for information and correspondence with Global Customs Authorities
  • Develop technology solutions that manage all product classifications and trade compliance documentation requirements such as commercial invoices for exports

Provide Trade Compliance Advisory Services

  • Provide technical assistance and oversight of all import and export trade compliance requirements including Foreign/Free Trade Zones or Treaties; internal controls, valuation, dutiable assists, recordkeeping and audits.
  • Manage all communication and projects with external NGO Partners, Customs Brokers, Customs Attorneys & other outside consultants to ensure coordinated compliant results
  • Review and assist in connection with export/import compliance including documentation requirements, classification, valuation of dutiable assists and requirements for importing Giving shipments into
  • Lead a cross-functional team, establish and oversee key trade security efforts for each applicable region, for example C-TPAT, AEO etc.
  • Develop training and education programs for other business units to ensure compliance to and knowledge of international customs regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of 3PL Distribution, Freight Forwarding, Exports and Customs Compliance and ability to effectively manage performance and costs
  • In-depth knowledge of Global Custom’s rules & regulations,
  • Knowledge of Global Supply Chain and Logistics processes and best practices in high growth global brands
  • Working knowledge of various Global Trade Zone benefits required, operational experience desired
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong business, leadership, planning and organizing skills; including the ability to provide ideas to management, communicate value, gain approval and implement effectively 
  • Strong ability to work independently and effectively manages employees in a globally disbursed function.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and project management skills required.
  • Ability to participate as a team-member as well as leader in a fast paced, team oriented environment.
  • Use sound judgment in decision making with results driven orientation.
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word and Excel)
  • Working knowledge of SAP is an added advantage

 

Qualifications

  • 10 years minimum international trade, import/export, Customs, and/or other international business experience required
  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in International Trade, Business Administration or Finance or Customs
  • Brokers License required
  • Experience in accounting and/or corporate tax desirable

 

Special Requirements

  • Expect approximately 20% travel
