Job Description:
The Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife (PA, NP, CMN) shall be committed to contributing to the mission of our Health Corporation, "to achieve the greatest possible improvement to the health status of the people of our Regional Hospital". The PA, NP CNM, is an employee working under the supervision of the medical director who is in turn supervised by the clinical services administrator.

Minimum Education:
PA, NP CNM must have completed an approved Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Training Program and received and maintained certification.

Minimum Experience:
Two years minimum suggested experience level. Should have experience with adult psychiatric patients and dispensing psychotropic medication.

Supervisory Responsibilities

-this position reports to the Dir. Clinic & Services
-The rest of the team consists of 5 master's level clinicians, 3 case managers, 1 RN case Mgr. and 1 substance abuse person
-This is a very diverse practice - you will treat babies to 90 year olds.
-Fast track - you are on your own, but you have 3 psychiatrists to consult with
-1 psychiatrist is from Seattle Children's Hospital, one is from MN available for you to consult with.
-they also see patients by VTC (video teleconferencing). 
-No psychiatrist on staff here in Alaska
-You will provide treatment for residents of 56 villages.  .
-This is not the typical urban community health practice.
-It's far different than anywhere else. 
-You have to be far more flexible than anywhere else.
-You don't have as many other resources (as in an urban setting).
-You must see all the patients, since you are the sole practitioner.
-Very diverse practice than


This NP/PA will be the top person in the psych dept.  Some experience would be best but it would be OK if you just finished school.  Must be self driven. We don't need someone who is afraid of being the only psychiatric practitioner on staff.  Must be a great communicator by email or phone.  The primary tasks are full psychiatric evaluations and managing patient's medications.  100% outpatient.
