We are currently accepting resumes for a Sybase Database Administrator in Columbus, OH. 

The selected candidate will perform the following duties:                    

- Database Administration Production Support

- Perform a limited amount of service support through the day-to-day operation of IT services

- Perform service management through the fulfillment of complex service requests

- Perform incident management through the restoration of normal service operation following incidents caused primarily by complex problems

- Perform problem management to minimize the adverse effect on the business of incidents caused by complex errors in the infrastructure

- Proactively prevent the occurrence of incidents

- Perform change management using standardized methods and procedures for efficient and prompt handling of changes in order to minimize the impact of any related incidents upon service

- Perform configuration management to provide a logical model of the IT infrastructure for all configuration items in existence

- Perform release management to ensure that all aspects of a release are considered

- Perform a limited amount of service delivery through the long term planning and improvement of IT service provision

- Perform availability management to optimize the capability of the IT infrastructure and supporting organization to deliver a cost effective and sustained level of availability that enables the business to satisfy its objectives

- Perform capacity management through understanding future business requirements, the IT infrastructure, and ensuring that all current and future capacity and performance aspects of the business requirements are provided cost effectively

- Participate as a team member of projects of all sizes

- Lead small-to-medium sized projects

- Take direction from management and more senior team members

- Provide guidance to more junior team members

- Analyze database performance and implements sophisticated changes as necessary to meet application needs in accordance with corporate directives and service level requirements

- Evaluate and make recommendations regarding database administration software tools and work with more senior members to define strategies for completing database software upgrades

Required Skills and Experience:

- Five to seven years of experience in the administration of Sybase 15.0.X and 15.5

- Excellent verbal, written communications and project management skills

Preferred Skills and Experience:

- Application database experience

- Experience with Sybase Replication Server

- Knowledge of SQL Server
