Position

This position will be responsible to develop technical solutions, end-to-end system architectures and system requirements for developing products and applications that meet or exceed the wireless carrier's mobile location service requirements.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for defining the end to end network architecture and mobile core interfaces.
  • Provide technical interface with external partners and customers as part of integrating Company’s Location Solutions within the operator's network.
  • Create detailed system specifications from these technical interactions.
  • Responsible for specifying high-level system requirements encompassing usability, performance, reliability, availability, manageability and scalability and based on customer's needs and other constraints such as cost and schedule
  • Ensures robust architecture is developed in-line with the high-level system requirements
  • Represent Engineering in Company's 3GPP activities.
  • Generates system acceptance test requirements in-line with high-level system requirements and especially the man-machine interfaces
  • Perform early architectural designs such as sketches, models, man-machine interfaces, prototypes to keep the customer and development teams in agreement of the system to be developed.
  • Maintain all system architecture related documents in current status.
  • Monitors, explores, exploits, and actively participates when needed in relevant industry standards.
Experience
  • The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in architecting and developing mobile networking and application software on COTS OS/HW platforms (Solaris, Linux, SPARC, Intel).
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
  • Very strong technical leadership skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of 3GPP wireless network architecture for voice and data services.
  • Good knowledge of 3GPP wireless networking protocols such as BSSAP, RANAP, RRC, SIGTRAN.
  • Good knowledge of 3GPP specs covering Abis and Iub interfaces.
  • Working familiarity with commercially deployed mobile core networking products such as SMLC, SAS, GMLC, SGSN, and MSC.
  • Experience with field configuration of mobile core networking products.
  • Experience with inter-operability testing between RNC/SGSN/MSC/GMLC products from different vendors.
  • Understanding of mobile location technologies (e.g. A-GPS, Enhanced cell-ID)
  • Understanding of LTE a Plus
  • Knowledge NMS and architectures a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop end-to-end system architecture/technical solution proposals from high-level market/system/customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with 3rd party infrastructure companies to bring together technical solutions.
  • Strong development, troubleshooting and problem solving skills are required.
  • Excellent "C" programming skills are a strong bonus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing to travel 20% of time.
