SQL Data Conversion Specialist

Summary

The Data Conversion Specialist drives data migration projects for new non-technical customers. This is neither an entry level position, nor a role for an experienced Sr. Developer. The ideal candidate has Business Analysis skills, is TSQL savvy, and is effective and comfortable communicating with customers. As an initial point of contact, the Data Conversion Specialist works with customers on highly technical concepts and projects while overseeing the conversion and manipulation of data from a customer’s legacy system to their ERP system. In this role, the Data Conversion Specialist serves as the primary point of contact to external customers and internal trainers/project managers during implementation and data migration projects. The Data Conversion Specialist is responsible for the customer service and communication required to help clients meet critical implementation milestones and deadlines. Since each new customer is different, the Data Conversion Specialist has to use creative techniques to compare data with conflicting data types and present the differences and solutions to their customers, in non-technical terms. You will be working with new or existing clients over the phone, and will need to communicate effectively over the phone.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that customer legacy system data is retained and converted into the ERP system
• Upload data to production databases in temporary tables to perform data comparisons and updates
• Use creative techniques to compare data with conflicting data types and resolve issues
• Make light modification of stored procedures
• Compare data with conflicting data types
• Create solutions that allow capture of existing data into useable data formats
• Communicate with customers in non-technical language
• Keep installation projects on track by adhering to milestones
• Collaborate and educate customers throughout conversion process
• Effectively communicate with Project Managers, Trainers, and other employees to keep installation on track.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent SQL Skills (Transact SQL)
• Experience with ETL/DTS/SSIS process and concepts
• Experience executing on pre-built SSIS/DTS packages to check data and migrate data to/from data staging tables in SQL
• Must be able to write select, update, delete, and insert statements with multiple table joins
• Able to balance multiple high-priority deliverables
• Flexibility – ability to work in a continually changing, customer-focused environment and to be simultaneously accountable to multiple peer team members
• Clear and professional communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a results/deadline-driven environment
• Must understand the impact that project tasks have on overall project as well as client’s expectation of outcome, and be able to reprioritize as needed.
• High school diploma required

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior HME/DME or Medical Billing exposure
