Engineering Technologist (Pulse Power/High Voltage) (closed)
We are currently looking for Experienced Engineering Technologist professional with electrical background for openings within Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies (FM&T).
The Kansas City Plant is a U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration facility managed and operated by Honeywell FM&T. Our primary business is to manufacture sophisticated mechanical, electronic and engineered-material components for our nation's defense system. Our goal is to seek innovative solutions that surpass our customers' expectations. To accomplish this, we research, develop, and deploy some of the most advanced design and manufacturing technologies in use in the United States today. This position requires performing engineering functions on assigned projects or sub-projects by applying standard mathematical, physical science, and electrical engineering technologies. In addition, the position may require solving challenging problems, managing complex projects, using schematics and product drawings to pinpoint problems, building strong customer relationships, utilizing six sigma or lean tools, and knowledge of low level and high level software languages.

•Assembly of electrical and electronic prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
•Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
•Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
•Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
•Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.
•Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of experimental electronics units.
•Ability to work in a lab environment using logic analyzers, digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, data loggers, and other similar equipment.
•Ability to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
•Ability to determine own technical work instructions, and carry out job responsibilities without input from engineering.
•Ability to interface with customers and suppliers. Demonstrates effective communication skills-both written and verbal.
•Ability to gather, analyze, interpret data, and make recommendations to resolve problems utilizing business, technical, and manufacturing wisdom.
•Analyze products and processes to anticipate, identify, and correct problems before they occur. Develop and implement state of the art methods and techniques for the design, acceptance and support of product development.
•Cross-trained in multiple technologies throughout business area. Ability to train others in specific job functions and/or administrative processes.
•Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment. Takes actions necessary to stop work when an unsafe condition or action is identified. Every employee has the right and responsibility to stop work when unsafe conditions or actions are identified.
•Four year technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
•Eight years of experience in electrical engineering technologies.
Additional Qualifications:
•Extensive experience working with pulse power.
•Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
•Experience in project management with strong organizational skills.
•Experience working in a lab with familiarity in logic analyzers, digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, data loggers, and other similar equipment.
•Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
•Proven ability in decision making and organization, planning and problem solving skills.
•Good people skills, ability to motivate teams to produce on-target and timely results.
•Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies including Six Sigma.
•Familiar with ProE and SolidWorks CAD software
