Job Description
Our government of Canada client require a Project Administrator for a 48 week contract.
Location of work: Ottawa
Rate: $45 to $55 per hour.
DUTIES
- Facilitate the administration of projects and programs, specifically:
- Management of effluent monitoring for federal facilities: This includes interpretation and application of Ottawa, Gatineau and Cornwall Sewer Use Bylaws and Provincial Water Quality Objectives, record keeping, analysis, taking corrective action and reporting when required.
- Coordination of Designated Substance Reports (DSRs): This includes communicating requirements to subject matter experts, obtaining appropriate information, reviewing DSRs for quality assurance purposes and obtaining approvals.
- Management of PCB containing equipment: This includes interpretation and application of Environment Canada’s PCB Regulations, ensuring inventories/audits of facilities, ensuring yearly reporting requirements and proper disposal.
- Coordination of environmental training: This includes identifying appropriate training for clients, soliciting clients for participants, arranging facilities/logistics for sessions and contracting appropriate professionals to conduct training sessions.
- Research, write and review environmental reports such as environmental assessments.
- Respond to hazardous material spills and ensure corrective actions in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
- Provide occasional fieldwork/site visits in support of projects, programs and contractors.
- Developing and monitoring plans and projects
- Providing administrative expertise in the management of projects, including strategic planning and analysis
- Overseeing the set-up and monitoring of project management tools as required
- Performing project evaluation
- Conducting research and analysis to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
- Revising and editing briefing notes and reports
- Liaising with senior officials and management on matters of mutual interest
- Review products and services of external consultants and contractors who provide professional services.
MANDATORY CRITERIA (resource must have the following)
Education:
- Secondary school diploma is required
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years of project administration is required
- Minimum of one (1) year of project administration experience with the federal government may be required
Asset Qualifications:
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Project Administration or a related field from a recognized post secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be required
In addition to the minimum qualifications required by the classification (education and experience), the potential candidates must also demonstrate the following mandatory requirements:
- 1 year experience managing an effluent monitoring program(s) within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience coordinating environmental training events within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience ensuring PCB management/compliance, within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience coordinating Designated Substance Reports within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience providing emergency response/support to hazardous chemical spills within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience conducting and reviewing environmental assessments within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience reviewing the products and services of contractors, within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience developing and monitoring plans and projects, within the last 3 years
- 1 year experience providing administrative expertise in the management of projects, including strategic planning and analysis, within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience overseeing the set-up and monitoring of project management tools as required, within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience revising and editing briefing notes and reports, within the last 3 years;
- 1 year experience liaising with senior officials and management on matters of mutual interest, within the last 3 years;
- 1 year work experience using word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, Internet applications, within the last 3 years;
- Must hold a degree from a post secondary Canadian institution;
- Must have Emergency Spill Response Training taken within the last 5 years;
- Must possess a valid drivers license.
