Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll come into this position at a critical junction—the foundations have been laid for the creation data warehouse that will have a company-wide impact—and you’ll  stand at the helm of its ground-breaking development. Working side-by-side with members of the Analytics Team and pair programming with other top-notch engineers in our agile, test-driven development culture, you’ll create new ETL and data management tools. Using your familiarity with data warehousing  best practices, as well as your ability to think outside of the box, you’ll participate in the analysis, design, requirements gathering, functional/technical specifications, deployment, and testing of all matters pertaining to the enterprise data warehouse. The insight provided by your work will have a direct influence on revenue and customer interaction, and what you create will be an example to others in the industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead data warehouse and ETL efforts within our agile workflow, including training and pairing with other engineers
  • Design, develop, and maintain initial load and incremental ETL and ETL processes using a variety of tools and programming languages
  • Integrate with vendors, warehouse tools, and other third parties in a test-driven way
  • Weigh in on standards and methodology for creation, capture, maintenance, and integration of metadata
  • Work with our data scientists and analysts to implement custom algorithms for product recommendations, inventory modeling, and more into the data warehouse's processes
  • Wow us with your expertise and skilled leadership on decision support technology and data warehousing throughout the enterprise
  • Collaborate with the Analytics Team to gather technical requirements
  • Implement KPI dashboards, dynamic reports, OLAP cubes, ad-hoc reporting, scheduling, monitoring, and automation

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming       
  • Mastery of at least one scripting language
  • Impressive experience in data warehousing, including dimensional modeling concepts
  • Strong skills in operational data store, data warehouse architecture, and BI solutions
  • Expert knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Eats Unix/Linux/OS X for breakfast
  • First-rate analytical and problem-solving skills, and flawless attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new paradigms, tools, and processes at light speed
  • Flexibility in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, exciting work environment
  • Ability to prioritize, self-manage, and seek help when necessary
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice to Haves:

  • No stranger to Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Understanding of the principles of data management, data governance, metadata management, data design, and integration
  • Leadership experience within a business intelligence or analytics group
  • E-commerce experience
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Solid grasp of data mining concepts and techniques
  • A passion for e-commerce, crowdsourcing, and fashion
