Video Job Description

Our client is looking to hire a Senior Hardware Engineer, with experience in Regulatory/Compliance testing, to perform board level design. Ideal Hardware Engineer candidates should have experience:

Designing embedded processor based systems.

Experience with:

·         DRAM (DDR2, 3)

·         NAND and NOR FLASH memory

·         Ethernet

·         Serial RS-232

·         I2C

·         SPI

·         USB bus

As the Hardware Engineer, you will be responsible for:

·         Design, Development, Debug and DVT (Design Verification Testing)

This will generally include: 

·         HW/PCB design for the development of products including DDR, NAND, NOR memory, serial interfaces (RS-232, I2C, SPI and USB), Ethernet, and wireless modules (cell modems and Wi-Fi)

·         Ownership of HW design and release including HW specification creation, schematic generation, PCB layout, board bring up, and design verification

·         Complete PCB design schematic using DX Designer schematic capture tools

·         Complete HW design projects per design requirements/specifications and responsible for on time delivery and quality of design

·         Work with external PCB layout designer to ensure all the PCB design phases from schematic review, Allegro part library, component placement, power plan sizing, routing, controlled impedance stack, signal integrity, etc. are properly implemented

·         Work with PCB layout designer and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure the design meets DFM/DFT and IPC requirements

·         Bring up new PCB design, perform design verification, and generate verification report

·         Interface with Manufacturing, Test, QA, Component Engineering and Compliance to ensure the HW design meets requirements

·         Design Hardware following the hardware design process guidelines

·         Work with mechanical design team to generate restriction drawings, mechanical components and cables

·         Responsible for review, modification and release of design package to Agile Document Control

Requirements:

·         Experience with high speed, high density and high layer count PCB design and layout experience

·         Expert working knowledge of Cadence Allegro PCB layout tools and DX Designer schematic capture tools

·         PCB design experience with high speed serial communication interface such as PCI-E, Ethernet and USB interface PCB design

·         Expertise in the use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DVMs

·         Experience with interface design based on Micro-controller or embedded controllers such as Power PC/ARM, etc.

·         Experience with NAND and NOR Flash memory design is preferred

·         Able to manage and mitigate minor mechanical design aspects of the PCB design including brackets and chassis

·         Experience with placement techniques for better EMC/EMI, controlled impedance stacks, signal integrity, multilayer design, and power plane sizing

·         Experience with EMI/EMC requirement for PCB design

·         Excellent written and oral communications skills

·         Familiar with PCB fabrication assembly process is a plus

Education/Experience  

·         BSEE required

·         Minimum 10 years experience in Hardware design
