Job Description
Our team is in need of another Project Manager to handle our exciting growth. The project manager leads the effort and supplies project planning, resource scheduling, fiscal responsibility and is the central point of communication to the customer. They are a highly organized individual with an understanding of all aspects of a project in addition to solid project management skills. Overall, this Project Manager is to ensure that a quality system is ready on time and on budget.
- Directs project team consisting of functional project engineers, site manager and commissioning engineers
- Creates bid packages, negotiates any revisions to subcontractor agreements; Selects and manages subcontractor.
- Prepares, publishes, distributes and maintains a project schedule with milestones for all disciplines and customer constraints
- Executes contract as sold; Facilitates project scope changes, and clarifies and mitigates contract issues
- Maintains up to date financial picture of project, providng accounting with schedule of values for invoicing and monitoring customer payment habits
- Creates and maintains project records; Archives proper files for retention
- Ensures smooth and consistent communication and exchanges of data between Customers, Project Team Members, vendors, and/or sales team.
- Prepares a concise and thorough commissioning plan and acceptance test, managing commissioning activities of Project Team Members and ensures customer system acceptance.
- On occasions, the Project Manager may be requested to join the sales team during the proposal stages of a project.
- Travel as a project manager is mandatory and depending on the current assignment(s) may be extensive.
- Review PIF as part of the project handoff document set. Understand the scope of the project.
- Work with other engineering resources in the development and application of equipment and solutions.
- Perform necessary calculations (angles, weights, dimensions, rates, speeds, etc.) to ensure quality system designs.
- Generate engineered system layouts and details (air piping, support loads, structural drawings, schematics, etc.).
- Confirm system design, provide IPS input for Oracle order entry.
- Conduct project review meetings internally, with vendors, and with the customer as required to properly execute the project.
- Conduct project site survey to verify building compatibility with system layout.
- Understand and commit to project execution schedules, budgets, performance, and purpose.
- Coordinate vendor information to assist in system design.
- Generate system design documentation for approval.
- Generate mechanical installation & field wiring specifications
- Generate purchase requisitions and order details for purchased equipment and services.
- Select and manage subcontractors; execute subcontractor agreements.
- Conduct vendor meetings to review details and compliance to the project plan.
- Provide technical guidance and support of system installation.
- Provide technical guidance and support of system commissioning.
- Provide technical guidance and support of system acceptance testing.
- Work with project team to close projects including reviewing and approving subcontractor as-built packages.
- Generate Spare Parts Lists and Operations/Maintenance Manuals.
- Provide technical guidance and support of system start-up.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business discipline
- 5-10 years technical experience with project management
- Comprehensive computer application skills – Office, Project
- Knowledgeable of contract language and accounting functions
- Cross functional team management experience
- Manufacturing and/or materials handling experience a plus
- PMP Certification a plus
