SUMMARY: 

 

Our client, a leader in the financial services industry, is looking for a Senior Systems Support Analyst for a contract position that will go through the end of the year. This position is responsible for ensuring that the business applications used by client's business units are operational. Incumbents will be responsible for responding and resolving issues in a timely and effective manner. Additionally, this position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of software by using the tools, methodologies and processes established by client's Information Technology department to meet the needs of the organization. The incumbent will be active in contributing to the fulfillment of client.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are generally representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

 

QUEUE MAINTENANCE

·         Ensure the production environment is available according to the needs of the business and established Service Level Agreements (SLA's)

·         Monitor support requests received throughout the day to ensure that all critical items are addressed

·         Resolve business-technology issues that impact production processes and system availability

·         Understand and prioritize open issues and user requests according to the needs of the business

·         Ensure that software enhancements and system fixes meet intended business needs according to defined requirements

·         Support end-of-day processes during off-hours according to the established rotation schedule

·         Ensure that critical processing jobs are complete and the required output is created

·         Act as a support liaison for major projects, identifying key support related requirements

·         Take ownership for the resolution of technical issues for assigned third-party vendor applications

·         Plan, test, and deploy bug fix, enhancement, and upgrade software releases

·         Participate in development initiatives according to the assignments given by the Development Manager

·         Maintain and follow established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies on all development initiatives

 

PROCESS ADMINISTRATION

·         Develop sound technical solutions to meet user requirements

·         Develop high level and detailed designs for assigned development initiatives

·         Develop and execute quality assurance routines to ensure quality of software

·         Inform manager and user community of progress, issues and concerns

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university

·         Post graduate work, such as financial certification, or master?s degree a plus

·         5+ years of solid experience in Business Application Software design, development and production support

·          Investment management industry experience preferred

OTHER:

·         Ability to work under pressure making decisions in a timely manner with incomplete information

 

TECHNICAL:

·         Knowledge of current systems and technology practices

·         Scripting: UNIX Kornshell, NT Batch scripting, Perl a plus

·         RDBMS: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, SQL (both platforms)

·         Languages : .Net (C# / VB.Net / ASP.Net), JSP, Java, ASP a benefit

·         Web servers: Tomcat, IIS, JRun a plus

·         Operating systems - Windows, UNIX (HP-UX a plus)

·         Batch scheduling experience (IBM/Tivoli?s TWS a plus

·         Strong understanding data structures and content required

·         Financial application experience a plus (Charles River, SimCorp Dimension, FactSet, Portia, Onyx)
