OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY:

 

Responsible for all assembly related functions dealing with product quality, on time delivery, and employee safety.

 

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Ensures a safe workplace for employees.
  • Ensures that the product shipped from company meets quality expectations and standards.
  • Responsible for schedule adherence.
  • Prepare monthly manufacturing man load requirement and annual departmental budget based on sales forecast.
  • Involved in implementation of JIT/TQCM manufacturing techniques.
  • Responsible for all excess parts found on floor to return to stock rooms.
  • Ensures performance measurements are monitored and plans are put in place to improve performance.
  • Responsible for identifying training required for assembly supervisors and managers to continue to grow.
  • Conducts manufacturing meetings, reporting on daily, weekly, and monthly schedules using charts which are to be updated daily.
  • Prepare monthly sales estimates.
  • Recruit or hire professional managers/cell leaders.
  • Collects, interprets, acts upon and reports key assembly statistical data.
  • Works with quality management to correct quality problems which are identified with products in the field.
  • Initiates and continuously improves internal quality programs to improve the final product and reduce product variance.
  • Identifies and makes corrective actions which result in scrap reduction cost which occurs monthly in assembly.
  • Ensures proper communications with support groups dealing with schedule changes or special shift support needs.
  • Responsible for adherence to union contract requirements.
  • Responsible for adherence to FAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Knowledge and skills:

 

  • Requires complete knowledge of all phases of manufacturing preferably in an aerospace industry.
  • Must be an effective communicator, motivator and a leader.
  • Must be able to train managers/cell leaders to be effective leaders by using manufacturing cells concept.
  • Must have a working knowledge of manufacturing technology.
  • Understanding of JIT/TQCM manufacturing techniques/cells concept.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business or related technical field and at least 4 years experience in manufacturing preferred, or five years in a manufacturing environment.

Communication Skills:

  • Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.
  • Ability to read and review written communication.
  • Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate and complete multiple tasks that vie for limited resources within a narrow time constraint. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position requires extended periods of walking while working with computers and viewing computer monitors, and other office equipment. 
  • Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, typing, ten key, fax, copy machine etc. 
  • Bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
