Position Summary:

This position will have a test roll as a member of a device interoperability test lab. The team contributes to a multi-functional team of integration, validation, new technology trials or demonstrations.  Incumbent will be involved in 3G and 4G technologies including CDMA, EVDO as well as LTE with a primary focus on infrastructure network and device ßà System interoperability compliance.

 

The incumbent is a member of the technical team who is responsible for implementing test cases on mobile devices per cabled interoperability test specifications for CDMA and LTE technologies.  Testing includes use of diagnostic monitors to verify layer 2 and layer 3 messaging on the air interface between various OEM mobile devices and our 3G/4G wireless base station. Troubleshoots issues and failures to determine the root cause by studying layer 2 and layer 3 messages to identify issues and help determine the cause of anomalies discovered. Create test reports to provide test results for review and approval. Provides first and second level customer support of technical issues.  Maintain lab equipment and ensure that system is available for testing. 

 

Common Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Implement interoperability test cases for 3G and 4G technologies
  • Perform CDMA interoperability testing per CDMA Certification Forum interoperability requirements 
  • Perform LTE interoperability testing per CTIA interoperability requirements
  • Determination of given Pass / Fail criteria based upon test execution and analysis of layer 2 and layer 3 messages
  • Compiles test results and writes professional test reports to be provided to potential customers
  • Studies test procedures and test standards to gain better understanding for implementing test cases
  • Interfaces proactively and effectively within internal teams and with customers as related to testing activities
  • Provide input for improvements in lab functionality, test automation, training, and lab maintenance procedures
  • Debugs lab issues and special assignments as needed
  • Performs testing on evenings and weekends if needed for shift operation
  • Assist in lab maintenance, software upgrades, unblocking test cases, test automation as required for the overall advancement of the IOT Lab and the team

 

Background/Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in computer science or electrical engineering with 1+ years of experience or equivalent work experience

 

Necessary Skills/Attributes:

  • Knowledge in either LTE or CDMA air interface protocols or network architecture
  • Experience with wireless data and IP networks
  • Experience in system integration and validation
  • Experience with MIP, SIP/RTP Radius/Diameter and TCP/IP suite is desired

 

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Work generally performed in an office or engineering laboratory environment
  • Performs work under time schedules and stresses which are normally periodic or cyclical and include: time sensitive job stress, fatigue, unpaid over-time, intellectual challenge, constant technical data feedback, language barriers, and product management Stress
  • Requires considerable (75%+) work utilizing high visual acuity/detail, numeric/character and color distinction, and high hand/finger dexterity in a sedentary position
  • Machines, tools, equipment, and work aids which are representative and commonly associated with laboratory product application test work. These include:  Field test  equipment, test devices; cables, etc; prescription safety glasses are required in certain test areas, first aid kit and basic test technician hand tools
  • Operate a computer keyboard and view a video display terminal more than 90% of work time, including their use for prolonged periods of time
  • Frequently works additional hours beyond normal schedule
  • Under limited supervision with of responsibility to apply general policies and guidelines where most work is not directly verified, may involve internal losses or cost to correct and where decisions may adversely affect operating results and management decisions
  • Position has access to confidential data of major importance such as intellectual property where disclosure is detrimental to the Co.?s interests and may jeopardize the company’s competitive position
  • Travel to customer or company sites of 10% of time or less
