Physical Therapist needed in the Panama City, FL area
The Physcial Therapist functions as an interdisciplinary team member providing direct patient care and individualized care planning/implementation and oversight of support staff primarily in an inpatient acute care setting. Duties include but are not limited to: Receives and interprets referrals from the physician and schedules patients for evaluation and treatment. Checks patient charts and other necessary data regarding patient. Performs evaluations in a quality manner and develops treatment plans and programs for patients ensuring quality and professional services are provided. Maintains accurate and pertinent documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries on all scheduled patients in a timely and professional manner. Instructs and supervises techs and students in proper handling of assigned patients. Evaluates patient's progress and make appropriate adjustments in patient's program. Recommends any changes, if indicated, to physician. Confers with physicians and other staff members for purposes of coordinated planning of patient care programs, patient care conferences, family education activities, and D/C planning. When needed, instructs patient/family in home treatment program. Assesses and orders equipment to meet needs of patient (i.e., wheelchairs, walker, cushions, braces). Performs general and rehabilitation physical therapy to a variety of patients including those in ICU, post traumatic, post-surgical, and medical using all appropriate techniques and tools available within the scope of physical therapy. Patients also range in age from infant to geriatric. Qualifications EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: Entry level Baccalaureate or Master's degree in Physical Therapy LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine as a Physical Therapist Current CPR certification. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: New graduates may be eligible for this position. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, techniques, equipment and procedures used in Physical Therapy. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology sufficient to evaluate and treat patients. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and excellent communication skills in guiding patients to assume responsibility for their treatment and development
