Job Description

General Description: HP provides overall architectural, engineering, build/implementation, DBA work, new application integration assistance and support services for its current client. The client also requires direct “cradle to grave” project management support to manage individual, technology-based projects in support of the application customer base. Project management support examples include, but are not limited to, creating project charters, formulating/coordinating project teams, running meetings/creating minutes, providing status to management, coordination of high level technical design phases, detail level design phases, governance presentations/sign-off, coordinating internal/external project support elements and managing all PM phases of technical execution and project close-out.

Typical Duties:

Manages or oversees multiple projects at the same time.

Represents projects at customer Checkpoint meetings.

Tracks and manages project action items.

Ensures that project management and execution are performed according to established guidelines.

Tracks the performance of projects and enacts corrective action based on deviations from the project plan.

Coordinates project activities throughout the established customer project management process.

Assists customer with maintaining the Total Cost of Ownership cost estimates for the investment/project.

Reviews project status reports and is accountable for project performance.

Creates project planning documentation when necessary.

Updates project information in the portfolio management tool.

Ensures the successful execution of build initiatives.

Manages HP staff/activities and coordinates customer support assigned to a specific project.

Provides cost and resource estimates.

Participates in project Lessons Learned and Closeout activities

Required Skills and/or Product Knowledge:

Minimum of 5-7 years’ project management experience supporting financial, U.S. government, or large commercial clients in a client-facing role.

PMP certification.

Project management of large, complex technical initiatives.

Understanding of contracts, particularly service-level agreements.

Superior verbal and written communication, including executive-level briefing experience.

Project-based leadership experience with matrixed resources in multiple locations.

Technical knowledge of distributed systems, shared infrastructure, Web-based applications. This includes Cisco, Sun Microsystems, BMC, EMC, WebSphere, WebLogic, and Oracle.

Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.

Travel requirements: Travel requirements to client locations are estimated at 10%.

General requirements include extensive use of Microsoft Word; along with potential use of Excel, Access, and/or PowerPoint if applicable. Superior verbal and written communication; attention to detail; and strong organizational skills. Prefer someone with an IT degree and experience in an ITIL environment.
