Experienced Network Engineer (closed)
Job Summary:
Provides system engineering, design, and administration support for all network infrastructure systems
within the enterprise across the various computer platforms. Serves as technical coordinator / project
lead for the deployment and support of network computer infrastructure (LAN and WAN), as well as
insure proper implementation and maintenance of management tools, network documentation, and
disaster recovery procedures. Works with System Administrators, Application group and other
departments to provide a stable and scaleable network infrastructure. Responsible for technical
hardware/software/cabling, bandwidth engineering, configuration planning, administration, and support of data and communications networks, including facilities planning. Performs any and all activities
associated with the network infrastructure and telecommunications services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to switches, hubs, routers, gateways, as well as VPNs, firewall, Internet connectivity, etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and five years of related experience or
Associate’s Degree with seven years of related experience. May substitute minimum qualifications with 8-
10 years of continuous experience and/or education directly related to the job duties expressed within this
document along with relevant industry certifications.
Must have:
1. Demonstrated experience in providing network infrastructure analysis, design, and support including
local and wide-area networks.
2. Technical competency with the following services:
OSI networking model and its use in network design and troubleshooting
Switching and routing technologies; (BGP, OSPF, MPLS) theory and practice
Cisco wireless systems including access points, controllers, and wireless control system software
Network management/monitoring technologies:
o SNMP
o RMON, etc.
TCP/IP (including IPSec, SNMP, DHCP, WINS, and DNS)
Internet Access solutions
o ISP connectivity with redundancy
o Firewall and VPN connectivity and scaleability
o DMZ configuration and access control
Security systems
o Intrusion Detection
o Authentication and account validation services
o Access control
o Vulnerability assessment and resolution
o Incident handling
Remote Access solutions (Async)
Extensive operational experience with the enterprise/carrier-class routers and switches (ie: Cisco
Catalyst 6500 and 3750’s)
Licensure/Certification:
CCNA and CCNP preferred. CCNA and CCNP certification required within 180 days of employment.
BICSI, CCDA/CCDP/CCIE, and/or MCP/MSCE certification observed but not required. If professional
licensure/certification required for other than IS position, i.e., RN, then licensure is required to be
maintained.
