Position Title Feed Service Manager - Ag - NE #2190
Location Arlington NE (Near Omaha)
Manage operations to facilitate the maximization of all resources to achieve desired productivity and profitability
Manufacture products and oversee storage, transloading and packaging activities according to required specifications and in accordance with current GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
Direct all feed transportation operations with focus on biosecurity, efficiency, value and timeliness
Manage and maintain an adequate, cost effective grain, ingredient and supply inventory
Lead a customer-focused team to ensure that customer needs are met; including timeliness of deliveries, order accuracy, quality, and over-all relations.
Insure that facilities and equipment are maintained in good and safe operating condition and oversee timely and satisfactory completion of all capital and maintenance projects
Insure accurate and timely reporting of inventory, production, packaging, shipping and all other activities of the operation, accurately maintaining all needed documentation.
Establish Standard Operating Procedures and Policies in the areas of manufacturing practices, materials usage, shipping/ receiving, capacity planning, production scheduling, waste management, customer satisfaction and performance measures
Develop, implement and ensure compliance with quality control and regulatory programs including but not limited to: all relevant state and federal regulations, organic certification, AFIA Safe Feed / Safe Food programs, vendor quality control programs and supplier auditing programs and biosecurity
Perform any other needed special projects or duties at the request of management COMMUNICATION/LEADERSHIP
Accountable for employees and contractors including but not limited to:
o Direct and coordinate day-to-day activities of all employees
o Hire and terminate employees on an as needed basis
o Implement a comprehensive HR system (in coordination with General Manager) including coaching and developing key employees, regular performance reviews, setting individual and company goals, continuous improvement culture etc.
Coordinate regularly with General Manager on plant activities, improvement opportunities, strategic planning, key business relationships and financial matters
Coordinate regularly with Logistics Coordinator on sales, logistics and customer service items
Coordinate regularly and build good working relationships with key business partners, suppliers and customers
Company Safety Manager - fully accountable for all safety related issues at the facility including employee compliance with safety policies and procedures
Establish and sustain a documented safety program with assistance from external service providers
Proactively identify safety issues to prevent accidents and/or noncompliance events
Create and sustain a “Safety First” culture
Five plus years in a Managerial or Supervisory role in a commercial feed mill environment
Bachelor’s or Masters in related field preferred but sufficient experience acceptable substitute
General mechanical skills
Excellent computer skills including Feed Formulation/Batching software, Excel, Email
Sales experience and customer/supplier relationship management a plus but not required
