Research Scientist – Health Economics & Outcomes Research
Our client is a free online community for patients with life-changing conditions. Members create profiles with detailed health data -- think treatments taken, symptoms, diagnosis history and more -- and share those experiences with the entire community. The end result? Patients taking control of their own disease while helping other patients and contributing to research. Featured in New York Times Magazine, BusinessWeek, CBS Evening News with Katie Couric, and WIRED, the Cambridge-based company is a for-profit that's on the path of disrupting medicine by putting patients first.
Our cilent is embarking on an exciting stage of development to expand their award winning team. They need you to design, execute, and deliver health outcomes and health economics research projects that discover unmet needs in their patient population and bring the patient voice right into the decision-making heart of the healthcare industry.
Using your analytic skills and experience of executing high-quality research projects you will employ shared health data to answer questions like:
· How can we develop new measures of functional status and disease impact that could be validated online and deployed in clinical trials?
· What problems do patients face that new treatments, products, or solutions could address?
· How do patients experience treatment options for their conditions?
· What new ways of understanding value can we gain from patients sharing their health data online?
In addition to being an expert researcher, as an accomplished writer, communicator, and PowerPoint expert, you will succinctly communicate the key findings to diverse audiences including scientists and senior business executives.
As a member of our client’s team you will share lessons learned from each project to help them improve their platform to enhance the patient’s ability to find other patients who can inform and support them as they share their experience and learn from others.

· Put patients first in everything that you do
· Take requirements from customers and develop methodologically rigorous research designs to answer their questions and solve patients’ problems
· Manage relationships with clients to keep them informed of progress and engaged in the process
· Execute research projects through our survey tool, open text analysis, direct messaging with patients
· Perform statistical analysis and interpretation in the context of the existing scientific literature
· Write white papers for clients, deliver high-impact presentations for decision-makers, and publish peer-reviewed journal articles
Qualifications
· PhD or Master's level education; prefer expertise in patient-reported outcomes, health services research, or health economics
· 3+ Years experience in human clinical research; demonstrated experience in research design, data collection, data analysis, and publication
· 3+ Years industry experience (e.g. pharma, payers, CRO)
