Job Description

Leads and directs all aspects of the development of the KPNW Strategic Plan, the regional planning process and development and maintenance the KPNW Annual Operating Plan. In collaboration with the VP, Finance and VP, Strategy, directs and oversees the region-wide Capital Planning process including the development of the long range (10-15 year) forecasts and capital plan for the region. Consults and supports KPNW operating units in the development of business growth strategies to remain competitive in the marketplace and identify opportunities for expansion. Reports to the Executive Director of Strategic planning and financial planning.

Essential Functions:
• Lead and direct all phases and elements of the development of the KPNW Strategic Plan and regional planning process
• Provide expertise and leadership in external competitive marketplace issues, including the capability to develop and execute long-range business strategies
• Direct and oversee the region-wide Capital Planning process (facilities, equipment) to be consistent with Program Office guidelines. Includes the development of the long range (10-15 year) forecasts and capital plan for the region
• Consults and supports KPNW operating units in the development of business growth strategies to remain competitive in the marketplace and identify opportunities for expansion
• Ensure the optimization of acute care and ambulatory facilities and services to ensure effective service for our member/patients in conjunction with the KPNW strategic and operating plans
• Direct and oversee the capability to provide financial and analytical data modeling and utilization analysis to support sound decision making and facility/service planning
• Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, forecasting, planning or other strategic or analytical field
• Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Economics, Operations Research, Public Health Administration or other related discipline
• Proof of current driver's license required within 30 days of hire
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of analytic techniques pertinent to facilities planning/utilization finance. This includes forecasting, sensitivity analysis, financial analysis, cost-benefit/effectiveness analysis and operations research
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of analytic techniques pertinent to planning, finance, management engineering, and medical economics, including forecasting, sensitivity analysis, and financial analysis such as NPV
• Basic knowledge of advanced analytic techniques such as dynamic modeling/simulation, decision analysis, cost-benefit/effectiveness and other economic analysis, and operations research
• Proven leadership skills in project management and consulting, including the following attributes: efficient, collaborative, candid, open, and results-oriented
• Strong proficiency in use of current software, including spreadsheets, statistical applications, process mapping tools, project work plan tools, charts and graphs, database management, decision support, and data warehousing applications
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (1:1, peer, multi-disciplinary group, oral presentations, written documents), ability to facilitate project groups of up to 12 people, supporting the project leader in meeting planning, management, and maintaining good group process
• Ability to manage against multiple competing priorities of customers and business process
• Proven ability to determine the key business issues and develop appropriate action plans from multi-disciplinary perspectives. Develop and execute fact-based, data-driven methodologies to address strategic issues
• Demonstration ability to establish clear performance expectations and results
• Manage multiple projects to achieve customer expectations, on schedule and within budget
• Facilitate teams or groups of key stakeholders from all levels and segments of the organization, build teams and resolve conflict

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in an integrated health care system preferred
• Experience working with capital projects strongly preferred
• Current/former Principal, Director or Sr. manager from Big 4, BCG or Bain
• Experience in Health Care Finance, Operatons, Insurance, etc.
